Cracks in ceilings after workmen in attic. Can these be repaired using filler or do the need repairing the full re-skim as I won't be pampering them there going to be painted. Thanks in advance
I have a garden wall around a patio built with thermalite block. A small portion is a retaining wall but only about 30 cm deep. What can I use to render the block including below ground surface? The goal is to finish the block with a smooth surface and paint white. Location near Peterborough.
Hi I recently had a bedroom wall replastered - how long should I wait before painting and do I need to do anything different while painting the first coat? Thank you
Hi, We are renovating and had a chimney breast built from plaster board this houses our TV and below it a rectangle recessed shelf. The problem is the base of the shelf was made from mdf (my dad thought it would make it more stirdy) problem is, the plasterer was then unable to skim it so we now have a fully plastered chimney but the internal shelf has an exposed mdf base. The opening (front edge) has the plasterers metal trim on show so we can't just paint the wood to match. I'm now trying to work out what to do to cover it up do I buy a slim piece of wood or plaster board and stick it on top? I'm worried that will look weird? I'm worried the exposed edge will look messy. I have also read that you can put down some sort of mesh to enable you to plaster on top of wood but not found much info about this so not sure if it's a good option. Thanks in advance for your advice. Wish I could attach a picture as I'm sure it's quite hard to picture. Thanks
I want to redecorate the whole house, it has wood chip all over. What is the best/quickest way to get rid of it? Thanks
I've read in a magazine about an insulating plaster made from lime, cork and loam but there's no mention of what it's called or what difference it makes. Does anyone know what this is, whether it works and how much it costs?
I have artex ceilings in 3 bedrooms which I would like covered. The house is 1950s, I haven't confirmed if there is asbestos yet. Would I need to check this first?
Having to continually repaint the black plinth around the bottom of the exterior north facing wall on my 1930s house with the render being very crumbly, paint always lifting/flaking off - even if I apply stabilising solution before Sandtex masonry paint. Above the plinth is fine. Could this be a symptom of an underlying issue? DPC in place and no other issues....
Hi would you deal with removing damp damaged wall with mold and renewing or would it be another trade?
Is lime render more breathable than cement render?
