How do I repair a hole in a wall? It is plasterboard, one of my kids has managed to go through the wall with a door handle. It is a rented property and I am worried I will get charged. Do I need to plasterboard and plaster the whole room?
I'm looking to have my house rendered. I live 1/2 a mile from the sea with a prevailing wind to my gable end. I like the modern look of k-rend or parex or webber but I am really concerned about the discolouration and staining of this stuff that you see EVERYWHERE you go. I am told that a particular paint is needed and should be applied soon after render is applied? What is this paint? By who? Or is there any other render or system that could be recommended? Thanks very much
Hello! I have had my house plastered and I think some of the work is not great. Before I chat to them would love some feedback. 1) chunks of plaster have dried on my window frames and won’t come off. 2) there are ripples on the wall. Not everywhere but in places. If I run my hand over it’s not smooth in some places 3) there are many hairline cracks (maybe some a tiny bit deeper). I think this might be normal and given it’s an old house? 4) should they have plastered to the floor? They didn’t take some skirting boards off (even though I asked) and now we have taken them off. They have only gone to the edge of the current board not the floor. 5) they got plaster and blue grit all over my light switches 6) they have left little bits unplastered (e.g, where an old socket was). I’m concerned as they are going to do my bathroom plastering and have already half fitted my tiles and suite and I’m worried it’ll get covered in plaster.
What do plasterers charge on a daily basis in Glasgow on average? How about their hourly charge? Are quotes about the same across the city or do different contractors offer very different quotes?
What brands do you think are the best go with for browning plaster?
Hi, I'm looking at various types of plaster. Just wondering, what is Thistle plaster and what are its pros and cons?
I have a ceiling in one room which has been progressively falling apart. It’s approximately 1.5 metres square in size. What is the best way for me to repair this growing gap in the ceiling? Will there be a need to remove any additional plasterboard in the process or just this section?
I’ve got swirl patterned ceilings around the house but over the last few months the plaster has started to come off only over the screws that hold the plaster board up (I think its plasterboard underneath?). It has left a few small circular holes dotted around the edges of the ceiling where the screw heads are now visible. Why would this be happening? How can I fix it?
I have artex ceilings in 3 bedrooms which I would like covered. The house is 1950s, I haven't confirmed if there is asbestos yet. Would I need to check this first?
