  • Subfloor replacement

I have an old terraced property. Is limecrete on glass insulation a better option than concrete subfloor for breathability. We have quarry terracotta tiles and a suspended floor. And the whole downstairs needs replacement.

    Timber frame kits for extensions

We're thinking of using a timber frame kit for our extension and leaving some of the wood exposed inside. However, I'm worried about fire safety as it'll house part of our kitchen. Are there any building regs etc to be aware of or things we should do to make it fire safe?

Is it essential to get homeowner insurance before having a new house constructed? If not, when would it be necessary and also when would it be strongly recommended (if it’s not legally required)?

Wired or radio link smoke detectors

I’m having a loft conversion done and to comply with building control you have either replace all the internal doors to fire doors or have a smoke detector in each room. I’m thinking of going with the smoke detectors in each room. My question is what’s the difference between the hardwired detectors and the radio link ones and also which one can I tap the wire into the existing light fixture and run trunking to the smoke detector.
