Can you fit a dry ridge system on an old roof?

We've been told that our ridge tiles are loose and need sorting. Is it possible to add a dry ridge system to an older roof or does it need extra work? Don't want to waste money here

"Hi Abdul, yes — a dry ridge system can usually be fitted to an older roof, but the roof condition needs checking first. The existing ridge tiles and mortar are removed, and a new ridge batten, fixings, and ventilated ridge system are installed.

If your rafters, battens, or underlay are sound, it’s a straightforward upgrade that gives a maintenance-free, mechanically fixed ridge. If the roof is very old or the battens are perished, some additional preparation may be needed before fitting.

It’s a great long-term investment as it removes the need for re-pointing and improves roof ventilation."

"Off course you can. Pretty straight forward job for a company that knows what they are doing. You will be looking at around £850 for a roof that is approx 8metres long"

"Yes it is safe to do unless it is conservation area I'd do research to check"
