Building storage under the stairs

We want to build storage under the stairs but we're not sure what makes best use of the space. Do you think building in a cupboard, shelves or pull-out storage is better?

"Depends how much storage you have under the stairs. All of them are good ideas, here is just up to you"

"Pull out storage is better for access to the items and looks nicer but, a cupboard with shelves will allow you to pack more items in and use more of the space.
It depends what's more important to you, usable storage space or accessibility and aesthetics."

"The answer to the question is fairly simple. It would be down to the homeowner on preference, but my personal opinion would be to use something which you could pull outs as suggested above as this way things can be hidden away and looks much neater and tidier shelving. Will leave items on display. I believe it’s always better to keep things tucked away and tidy."

"If space allows can be even both,
It's all depends from , what are you planning to keep there /how much space allows / budget/ style/ etc but I would say with pull out drawers you would loose some 15- 20 % space also drawers would work out 2-3 times more expensive due to more materials and job involved"

"I would suggest doors installed to an existing open space, if you do pull out drawers
A. It will cost a lot more money and b you'll be restricted as to what you can store in them"

"Cupboard is always better as you have at least forty and fifty seven mm of waisted space carcass of the units plus draw sliders."

"The best option for storage under the stairs can depend on several factors, such as the amount and type of items you want to store, the available space, and your personal preferences. Here are some pros and cons to consider for each option you mentioned:
1. Cupboard:
-A cupboard can offer a clean and tidy look as it hides items away from sight. It may also provide more security for valuable or fragile items as it can be locked.
-A cupboard may not be the most efficient use of space as it can have limited accessibility, making it harder to reach items stored at the back. It can also be expensive to build a custom cupboard.
2. Shelves:
-Shelves can maximise the use of vertical space, allowing you to store more items. They are also relatively easy to install and can be less expensive than a custom built cupboard.
-Shelves may not provide the same level of organisation as a cupboard or pull-out storage. It may also be harder to keep items on shelves neat and tidy as they are more visible.
3. Pull-out storage:
-Pull out storage can offer the best of both worlds as it provides organisation and accessibility. It can also make the most efficient use of the available space under the stairs.
-Pull out storage can be more expensive and difficult to install compared to shelves. Additionally, the sliding mechanism may wear out over time and need to be replaced.
Ultimately, the best option for you depends on your specific needs and preferences. You may want to consider a combination of the above options to create a storage space that meets your requirements."
