  • Bath Sealant Problems

I'm having constant issues with the sealant around my bath. When I bought the house, it had not been sealed, the tiles had been grouted against the bath. I took this out, cleaned and sealed. But the sealant keeps failing, going mouldy and we've previously had leaks in to the room below, it also seems to leak through the shower screen as well. The tiles sit just over the bath at the tap end, where the problem is, and butt to the tiles at the other. I need to remove the sealant again for the 4th time but need to know what I'm doing wrong. I am removing all sealant, rubbing down with white spirit and weighted the bath last time to account for movement. Only a little water is getting behind, but the plasterboard is slightly damp so it needs sorting properly. Thanks

    Refurbishing Stairs

We have a typical 50's built semi with a blockwork half wall instead of spindles on the stairs. We would like to change this to spindles and bannister. Is it a job for an experienced DIYer? If not, roughly how much would it cost to get in a tradesperson?

    Removing Kitchen Wall Tiles

We need to remove wall tiles along THREE walls in a U-shaped Kitchen and also screed the walls to make it smooth either for re-tiling or putting glass or stone splashbacks. Is it a DIY job or does it require a professional Tiler to do the job correctly?

Work guarantee from liquidated decking company

Hello, I got some timber decking installed and treated in 2015 and was given a 10 year guarantee. After some issues I tried to get in touch with the installer and have found that they have gone into liquidation. Is there anything that can be done in this situation? I'm not even sure where to start?

    Roofer Question

I live in a semi detached Bungalow and I am planning to have a new roof. My neighbours roof is antic brown and I will be having dark grey tiles. My roofer has suggested that I have brown ridge tiles between myside and theirs, as to have dark grey ones on the ridge might cause issues with the neighbour. I don't really know what this would look like as I can't visualize things very well. Is there anywhere I could see a picture of this type of thing?

    Cheapest fencing option

What is the cheapest fencing to install? My neighbour has planted a hedge to mark his boundary, but I need to keep the dogs in. Would a chain link fence be the cheapest? Roughly how much per foot/metre? I think the distance is 35/40 feet. Thanks
