Hello there. There are no Lintels above my windows just a row of bricks held in only by the cement. I need to change out the windows but want to know if i need to fit a concrete lintel? Is there an alternative to support the bricks above so i dont need to remove them and add in the lintel? Any advice would be appreciated.
If i fit a steel in above my window how do i go about rendering it so it matches the house? What can i use for the render to stick to? Thank you

Have any experienced painters had to remove lead paint before? Is it dangerous to do yourself? Is it better/safer/cheaper to remove it from timer door and bay window frames or remove and replace them with MDF?
I'm just wondering if you can plaster and render over wood. I have an exposed wooden lintel above a window that needs rendering on and wood around an open plan doorway that's been removed that would ideally be plastered on. What would i need to plaster. render on the 2 areas? Is there something i can put over so the plaster/render with attach to? Thanks,
I am currently researching radiators and trying to calculate BTU to ensure I choose the right size and type. I am COMPLETELY new to this process as well as working with tradespeople. I am doing something wrong, because the numbers I get sound way off - over 9000 BTU for a small bedroom. I have read on a few radiator selling sites that the best way to choose a radiator is to get a plumber in who will calculate the BTU more precisely and help choose the right radiator. As professionals, would you say that’s correct? Is helping choose the right radiators part of service you offer? Or is more a heating engineers’ territory? Many thanks in advance!
Hi My contractor said he needed to remove some floor to run wires He pulled out the ENTIRE floor. Every single board in every room Surely this is not correct ? They now want to sell new floors to me
I have a cast iron down pipe at the front of my property next to my drainage down pipe from the guttering - the bathroom is at the rear of the property so it’s not a smell pipe or waste - can anyone advise what it is for and can I get it removed - I have pictures of pipe if needed
My neighbour is being a problem we want to replace a roof tiles on our house. But how would it be possible if he doesn’t allow us access to get scaffolding up on his side. 3 sides of the roof can be replaced but the side which is on the neighbours side won’t be reached as cannot get any scaffolding up. Any idea what can be done.
