What is the ideal size rug for my living room? Is there a certain proportion that I should consider, like for example, 1:8 to floor area or is it more particular than that? If so, what factors should I consider when choosing the right sized rug for the front room? thaks.

    Joist replacement

Hi. I live in 1st floor 1930s maisonette. My loving room and corridor leading to it seem to have springy floor. Whenever i walk everything is shaking. Other rooms and kitchen seem to be much more solid. Living room is roughly 4m x5m. How can this be fixed? Do i need joist replacement?

    removing tiles and adding shower

We are hoping to change up the bathroom in our new house. It currently has a nice freestanding clawfoot bath, vanity with bowl style sink and a decent toilet that I want to keep. The bathroom is tiled (floor and all walls) and for some reason a previous owner has then added a cheap and horrible shower. We want to have a Lisna Water shower put in instead. I assume we need to remove the toilet/sink/vanity/bath safely before removing the tiles? We can remove the tiles ourselves, lay the floor and do the painting ourselves but will need to hire a plasterer and plumber. Can anyone give me an estimate for plastering (all 4 walls) and the plumbing labor? Extra info: The room is approx. 2.25 x 2.40 meters, we want to keep the locations of each item the same so hopefully no moving pipes etc..., ceiling does not need plastering and we are in the north east of England.
