  • Gap in my window letting heat out

Hi all, Just wondering if you could advise me on a gap in my window where the hinge is. I have a brown uPVC window but it seems to be letting in a draught. If you sit at the right angle you can see daylight coming through. This is the space between the window opening and the frame, is this something that can be tightened and re-aligned or does the window opening need replacing? Thanks in advance.

    Switch is switch

The issue concerns 2 bedrooms that operate on different switches, obviously, but have different results than expected. The combinations are as follows: Switch A Switch B Light A Light B 1: off off off off 2: on off on on (dim) 3: off on off on 4: on (1st) on (2nd) on on (turns OFF light A) 5: on (2nd) on (1st) off on Sorry, but this is the only way I can explain. I think a little rewire is called for? Ragards John.

    Removing rusted nail and screws?

Is there a drill bit that drills around them, like an apple corer? Grabbing the nails is impossible, they crumble. This is in a basement with damp walls and they wick moisture. I have to remove them before tanking.

    Replace Floor Joists

We have a living room that is 13'8"x9'9" with floor joists that attach to the neighbouring house, so that when the neighbours children are jumping around we can feel the vibration in our living room. Is it possible to remove and replace the joists so that they run the opposite way and if so how much is this likely to cost approximately? Thanks

    Labour cost query

Hi. I will be moving into a new house. The kitchen is tiled already but I would like to tile the living room floor approximately 16m squared. If I was to purchase the materials myself how much would I be looking at for a tradesperson in labour to install? The floor at the moment is concrete and screed so I imagine the floor is ready to be tiled

    Removing a uPVC porch

In the front of our house we have an old uPVC porch. Its going to come down easily enough because it's just glazed panels. Im just wondering how it's actually attached to the house. I don’t mind ruining the porch but want to have minimal damage to the walls of my property. Thanks.
