"HL hinges are traditional decorative hinges shaped like an “H” and “L” combined. They’re commonly used on ledged and braced doors.

Advantages:

• Spread the weight across the door
• Strong and supportive
• Ideal for heavy timber doors
• Decorative, rustic appearance
• No need for recessing like butt hinges

They’re commonly used on cottage-style, shed and garage doors, especially where a traditional look is wanted."

"HL hinges are heavy-duty strap hinges typically used for solid timber doors and gates. They’re strong, reliable, and help distribute the door’s weight evenly, which prevents sagging and makes them ideal for heavier doors."

"HL hinges are a stronger version of simple symmetrical H hinges. They are useful for supporting the weight of a heavy wooden door. The key is the extra supporting arm that fastens to the door."
