Hello We have had a combi installed which has replaced our old conventional boiler. We have however had lots of problems with the new boiler. There are strange noises coming from the boiler & also problems with the water pressure. If I put taps on it causes the bath hot tap to come on. The stream of water coming out of the kitchen hot tap was so fierce we could not turn the tap off so are no longer using the hot tap in the kitcen. The engineer insists it is just because we have old taps and is going to replace the taps. The main issue is that he did the boiler installation in a day with a colleague. I am worried about whether they took any shortcuts but don't know enough about this. Please advise as to whether you think this is just to do with the taps or whether it could be a problem with the boiler installation. Everything worked OK with the old boiler.
Why do the pipes make a noise when the washing machine is filling
Do you need to buy all the materials/supplies as part of a package or from the same provider for installing a stud wall or can you mix and match from different suppliers and still have it work okay? Can I buy these from different places and how di I know that they’re compatible? I’m just looking for ways to save on money for this project as best I can without compromising the safety and success of the installation. Thank you.
Should I have smart heating controls fitted? Can they be added to an existing heating system?
I’d like to use pallets for a small decking area that will have garden furniture to sit on. I know the wooden pallets will rot, so was thinking to use membrane before putting pallets down and tearing them with oil. Is there anything else I need to put under them? And what would be best to put on top of them? Alternatively, I thought plastic pallets might last longer but still not sure what to put below and on top of them and additionally, how I would make them secure and start together?
Do I have to use postcrete to install wooden fence posts?
What should I do if a newly installed roof is leaking?
I live in a terraced house, there is a skew between us and next door. Next door is rented, few weeks ago the landlord said he'd had front skew repaired (we'd seen they'd been getting repairs, no idea what exactly, the scaffolding just appeared one day), the back one needed doing and would we go halves. I asked him to send me the quotes he gets, he laughed and said he'd get his builder to do it. Turns out his 'builder' is a local handy man. I've since had two roofers to look at the roof, the skew definitely needs work, but the 'builder' who did the front skew has bodged it, and carried out work on our roof at the side of the skew, that now needs fixed. Where do I stand on 1) getting next door to pay for putting the dodgy work put right, and 2) stopping them doing any more work on our side of the roof? I'm having visions of coming home one day and them up on the roof without asking again, same as when the front was done!
Hi - I am about to buy tile paint. I only need a small amount - I will buy Ronseal One Coat Tile Paint Satin Grey Slate. I need to buy a similar colour to paint an internal exposed RSJ steel beam - can I use this tile paint for that? Do I need to do any prep work other than cleaning?
Would tiling usually be done by a decorator or a handyman? Not sure which of these to post my kitchen tiling job under on this site.
