  • Kitchen rearrangement

I'll be moving to a new property shortly. The seller will be removing all kitchen appliances so good opportunity to rearrange it. Is it possible to reuse cabinets & worktop counters already there, rearrange them, get matching new ones if necessary? They're relatively new (no more than 4 yrs). As it is there is a very wide range style cooker & fridge which is outside of kitchen (kitchen is an extension). I'd like an elevated oven, fridge brought in to main kitchen and induction hob (current cooker is gas hob). Is this possible?

    Structural Restorative Works

Hello, We're looking to purchase a property and the structural survey has returned a structural deficit that we'd like to get a couple of quotes for. It's a 1940s detached house that has had a single storey rear extension The survey found External cracking to brickwork to the rear elevation and side elevation where the rear extension has been jointed into the house. Cracking was above the opening below the second-floor windows which was diagonal and appears in the middle of the span of the opening consistent with lintel deflection. (we also noticed internal wall and ceiling cracks in a similar location...) Vertical cracking was also observed between the brickwork of the rear extension They recommend Replacement lintel installation sufficient to carry the loads applied from the masonry above Repointing the vertical cracks found and checking drains for possible leaks Would someone be able to quote for what it would be to remedy the above issues? Thanks! Roo

    Starting a handyman business

I want to start my own handyman business and I'm looking for a bit of advice on how to price jobs. Should I work out an hourly rate and charge that regardless of the job. Or should I charge more for complex/skilled jobs? I have some experience and basic qualifications for things such as plumbing, so I don't want to sell myself short but I don't want to price myself out either.

    Shower trap issue

Hi, we recently moved into our current house. The bathroom has now an awful sewer smell. On inspection we found it to be coming from the shower drain (walk in shower - tiled floor). I lifted the grill and saw no water seal - no sitting pool of water - and it looks like the shower trap has been removed. Water flows directly down and so it looks like the smell is coming directly from the sewer. My newborn sleeps close by and so my wife is very worried now! However, I have no idea how to get this fixed/replaced as I can't find the brand name on any of the bathroom fixtures. Any help/advice hugely appreciated....

    Bathroom renovation costs?

Hi all, I've just bought my first house and the bathroom is in great need of renovations. Theoretically, it's an old bathroom that needs a basic renovation. Basic taps, shower/bath, basin+pedastal etc everything in same place. No Plastering needed, no paint needed lino floor, pvc plastic 4 sheets needed. No fancy stuff or extras. My cheapest quote was £7,500 i got from bathroom businesses and it's over budget for me. I'm thinking about doing part of it myself, or contacting a sole trader. Could anyone give me a rough idea of how much that would cost? It's a small bathroom that literally only just about fits that stuff, very narrow. Thanks in advance
