When to use scaffolding for DIY work?

How can I tell when it is best practice to hire scaffolding as opposed to using a ladder to access a roof for DIY work? Is it related to the extent of the work? How about the height of the house? Are there any other factors I should consider?

"Your safety is paramount always use scaffolding or a professional.
Your life is worth more than that.
One slip is all it takes.

    Hope this helps.

"Recommend to use scaffolding when the job becomes scary to you, or if you need materials, and tools up on the roof."

"Yes height of the work, and health and safety, need to make sure everyone is safe completing the work, and doing the work off a scaffolding will ensure the work is completed to a high standard, instead off a ladder"
