What is the standard pitch of a garage roof?

We're having a new garage built and the builder has asked if we want a standard pitch. What angle do most garage roofs sit at, and does it affect what roofing materials you can use?

"If you’re not set on a particular roofing material, a 35° pitch is a safe, traditional choice that works with most tile and slate But I’d ask the builder what roofing material they’re pricing for, as that often determines the ideal pitch"

"In the UK, a "standard pitch" for a garage roof typically falls between 30° and 35°, often designed to match the pitch of the main house for a cohesive look. However, for modern detached garages or extensions, a "low pitch" (around 15° to 22.5°) is also very common to keep the ridge height lower.

The angle is critical because it directly dictates which materials you can use. Every roofing product has a "minimum pitch" below which it will likely leak or fail."

"It all depends on the materials you use etc flat roof ,metal roof or if pitch roof for tiles etc"

"Standard pitch on a garage roof is 1:80 as long as you have a running on the roof"

"For a typical UK garage roof:

* Flat garage roof: Usually built with a slight fall of 1:40 to 1:80 (about 0.7° to 1.5°) to allow water runoff.
* Pitched garage roof: Most commonly between 15° and 25°.
* Concrete or clay tiled garage roof: Usually 22.5° to 35°, depending on the tile manufacturer’s requirements."

"There are many aspects ie if the garage is free standing or adjacent to the property. A standard pitch is fine.

Thanks"

"In the uk, a “standard’’ garage roof pitch is usually around fifteen to thirty degrees for a typical pitched (apex) garage roof. For garages designed to match a house roof, you’ll often see twenty five to thirty five degrees and sometimes forty five degrees.

The ideal pitch depends mainly on:
The roof material (tiles usually need steeper pitches than metal sheets or rubber).

Whether you want loft/storage space .

And local weather exposure."
