Roof pointing repair cost

Had a roofer knock on the door saying our ridge pointing is crumbling and he can sort it for £900 cash, bit wary to be honest. What should repointing a ridge actually cost?

"Around £900 sometimes £700 if smaller area to cover but a full repoint of a crumbly chimney should be around £900"

"All depends on how much work there is but £900 seems to be a bit excessive. Plus never use people who knock on your door"

"Depends on the metre of ridges 1 ridge could be as little as £100 or a big house with hips could be in the thousands"

"Hi . It depends on if you need scaffolding if its a hip roof or just the ridge across the top of the roof . If your going to get them done always make sure you get a few quotes and advice ."

"Hi, i would be mindful about someone knocking on your door, also just simply repointing the ridge tiles will not last, they need taking up all the old motar removing and re bedding to the roof properly.

As for the cost without seeing the job it can vary massively.

Thanks Craig"

"Normally when cement is crumbling away it is a weak mix to begin with and need taking off and completely rebeding pointing them is covering over the problem"

"Hi
It depends on a lot of factors, mainly access and the size of the job, personally I think it’s always best to lift them clean the area and re bed them back down, but a re-point iv never charged that much money, I do £100 +£15 a ridge tile to grind out the old concrete and re-point up but every job is different"

"Depending on how many .repointing doesn’t really work better to take off and rebed roughly £300-£500."

"This all depends on the size of the roof and how many ridges to repoint on average small semi 's are between £200 /£600 where larger houses cost from £800 to £1500 some people use scaffolding which can cost more"
