Ask your QuestionWhat is a washer tap and should I have one installed?
Asked by Adam on 11th May 2022"Sounds like you are referring to a type of tap (faucet) that uses a rubber washer to start and stop the flow of water within the tap. These types of taps tend to be referred to as 'Screw down' taps as the handle on the tap has to be rotated a number of times in or out to start and stop the flow of water. This is in contrast to what is referred to as 'quarter-turn' taps that employ a pair of ceramic plates encapsulated within a cartridge to start and stop the water flow, with a much smaller range of movement."

Ceramic disk in taps have quarter turn handles for easy use last longer that washers taps."
