What fall should a patio have?

We're having a new patio laid and the contractor mentioned it needs to slope slightly away from the house. What's the minimum fall required and how do you check it's right?

"A turn of the bubble enough to make the water run away from the foundations of the home preferable into a soak away"

"Hi. Your Contractor is Correct in saying it needs a Fall away from the house. Rule of thumb is just a partial Fall away from the property as with New decking to drive the water away from the house as much as possible. Lay yr Spirit level long ways from the house out towards the garden then if the Bubble is slightly over the line nearer the house, then its Bang on,or Bob on! Hope that answers yr question. Kind Regards,"

"Your patio should have a fall of around 1/4 inch per foot"

"It doesn’t have to be a certain pitch as long as you have a good enough dampproof next to the house or aslong as rain water is able to flow to the closest drainage."

"It depends on the size of the patio but less than a quarter bubble should be fine flowing away from the house.
But if unsure divide the distance by 80"

"Minimum fall is usually 1:80 away from the house (about 12–15mm per metre; some use 1:60). So over 4m you’d want roughly 50mm drop.
It’s usually checked with a spirit level and straight edge, a string line, or a laser level. The slope should be slight but enough so water runs off and doesn’t sit against the house."

"The fall on a typical patio should be 1:80 which is 12.5.mm drop per meter to ensure that proper drainage."

"Use a long spirit level (at least 1.2m/4ft). Place it on the patio pointing away from the house. To achieve a 1:60 fall, you should see a gap of about 20mm between the end of the level and the patio surface when the bubble is centered."

"12-13mm per metre is a normal runoff if it’s unless it’s a lot more water runoff then increase to around 18mm"

"What your contractor is saying is he is giving a slight fall which is on a level bubble slightly touching the line on a level so the water WILL run away from the house but you won't see the drop on your patio"
