    "Hello Simon,
Asphalt shingles are a type of roofing product used in predominantly America, they cover OSB wooden boards on homes and are rectangle pieces of either fibreglass or recycled paper-based substance mixed with asphalt then colour added. Hope this helps
    Many thanks

"Asphalt shingles are made of either a paper or fibreglass mat with a layer of asphalt on top. Composite shingles are made up of a combination of ingredients, such as slate, laminate and wood, which improve their strength and life expectancy"
