Wall plug socket always ‘on’

I have a standard wall socket thats always worked fine - however it now doesnt seem to turn off, whether the switch is in the ‘on’ or ‘off’ position. I.e whatever is plugged in continues to be powered whichever position the switch is in! Is it safe to keep using the socket??

"Seems like the rocker switch inside the socket front has stopped working in the “on” position. Should be swapped for a fully working unit asap."

"Switch is broken in the on position just replace it with a new socket. Hopefully it's just a broken switch through wear and tear hopefully behind the socket there is no thermal damage to the cables."

"The ON/OFF functional switch or isolator is faulty so this needs replacing a new switch onto the socket."

"Sounds like the connection behind the switch mechanism has worn out. The whole socket will need replacing. It is safe to use with care, but highly recommend replacing. The main reason is you cannot isolate the appliance before removing the plug, which could cause a spark if the appliance is in use when you pull it from the socket. Hope that helps."

"Unfortunately not, as you won’t be able to isolate the appliance correctly and could be causing thermal damage on socket switch"
