Vinyl flooring onto stone tile

Do I need to have levelling compound laid prior to the vinyl floor being fitted as the grouting gaps are very shallow?

"100% yes. The grout lines will show through no matter how shallow you think they are. Before applying a suitable levelling compound be sure to prime the tiles with a suitable primer. I'd suggest one containing a grit"

"Yes, a smoothing compound would be needed otherwise your vinyl flooring will take the shape of the tiles underneath"

"Yes you do but before applying self levelling compound the tiles will need to be primed."

"It's possible to put vinyl over almost any hard flooring material, including tiles. Just make sure to repair any cracks or wide gaps in the existing tile flooring because, as these issues can affect the smoothness of the vinyl's surface when installed."

"Yes u can fit vinyl directly onto hard tiles as long as vinyl is not to thin"

"Yes, any sort of bump or groove will show through the vinyl. You could get away with just filling the gaps, but for the best result you're better off leveling the whole thing.

That would be fill the gaps then have a 2-4mm across the whole thing"

"Yes you will need to level it off properly this will prevent bumps and lumps as well as provide you with a much better durability over time. This does not have to raise the floor level much at all."

"Yes because the vinyl flooring will settle over time and the shallow grout channels will show through the vinyl. You could lay plyboard down instead but you need to ensure the panels are perfectly joined otherwise they will show through the vinyl flooring. Kev"

"It is always recommended to level and smooth out your floor prior to installing any flooring. This gives you the best possible results and minimises any chances of lumps and bumps in your new floor."

"Yes you would need to add levelling compound , the sub floor for vinyl floor would have to completely flat , no humps or dips or imperfections."
