"Carpet is generally cheaper between £6 & £8 per sqm fitting. Laminate is normally between £12 & £20 per sqm fitting. You need underlay for laminate aswell although it is cheaper than carpet underlay."

"Really depends on the price of the flooring and the underlay. Laminate takes longer so cost more per sqm to fit. Carpet is much quicker to fit so cost less per sqm but as a total job, the price all depends on the price of what you are buying."
