"For instant privacy bamboo is probably your best and cheapest option.
More decorative trellis is better for growing privacy giving plants such as honeysuckle.
I hope this is helpful to you

"You must use an appropriate trellis for the type of climber you are planning on planting/training. The larger the better if you're renting to achieve maximum privacy but usually the climber itself will provide much more than just the trellis."

"Hi Lou,

Most trellis will do technically speaking, only depending on your environmental conditions like extreme wind and rain, extreme temperatures, and proximity to high sources of pollution and salty sea air.

In most residential gardens, the main consideration is that in the spacing between the wooden battens that make up the trellis, there is a balance between:

A) smaller trellis hole size for privacy

and

B) larger trellis hole size for wind pass through, to avoid shearing wind damage.

Kind Regards,
