Table bug

What is a table bug and when would it be used?

"A table bug is a small adjustable support or fixing used in joinery, often to secure tabletops or panels while still allowing natural timber movement.

They’re commonly used when fixing solid wood tops to frames, as timber expands and contracts across the grain.

Using table bugs helps prevent splitting or warping."
