Switching plastic switches for metal ones

If I swap out my basic plastic light switches and sockets for metal ones, will they need anything extra?

"Are the plastic one's surface mounted because if you are putting metal ones in
they will need to be chased into the wall."

"Changing plastic to metal is ok as long as you have verified and tested that the earth is in place on a metal switch there is an earth lug which you won't find on a plastic this must be earthed on the metal switch the chances are that the sockets are earthed anyway however an extra earth link is from the earth lug to the metal back box also earthed"

"Hi, if you change plastic light switches to metal, you must have an earth (cpc)
at each point. The sockets will not be a problem.
Kind regards
Steve"

"Hi Harry,
They will need an earth wire to be connected. Most cables have an earth wire (cpc) already in them but each end must be connected to the earth terminal. I hope this helps.
Simon."
