Electric Heater fitting

I have a gas fire which I want to replace with an electric fire. Do I need any special wiring for it & hence if & when (at what stage) do I need to call an electrician?

"Hi, Yes you will need a power source for your heater. Usually I install this next to or on the side if the chimney breast. Then we drill through the breast to connect the heater. You should buy the fire you want, then have me or another qualified electrical engineer price to install it."

"Hi, depending on the electric fire, it will either require a socket or a fused connection unit. Normally, these can be wired off an existing socket. It is usually advised that this be done after the gas fire is removed. Thanks, Shadow Electrical."

"Once the gas fire has been removed, an electrician can assess the best way to supply power to the new electric fire. Depending on the fire’s power requirements and the existing wiring, it may be possible to take a supply from a nearby socket, or a new circuit may be needed from the consumer unit. It’s best to arrange for the electrical work after the old fire is removed but before the new one is fitted."
