Can i take the plug off my new oven
Just got my oven which has a plug on it my old oven was hard wired can i take the plug off and just wire it into the box in the housing unit like my old one

"Hi Paul you can but if it's a moulded plug on a new oven it would void your warranty , why are you cutting it off ? Should be supplied through a cooker switch which then isolates the socket"

"It will depend on the rating of the cable. Chances are it’s rated for 13A and not 32 or even 40A as most cooker circuits are fused at. A fuse is intended to protect the cable. You could potentially do this and change the circuit breaker to suit the cable rating of new cooker"
