Patchy Ceiling Paint

Question

My builder did a few coats of white contract matt emulsion paint on my newly plastered ceiling but it still looks very patchy. He said the ceiling is old and paint is drying quickly.

If I use thicker, ceiling paint, Dulux or another brand - will this remove the patches and ensure a unified finish?

All newly plastered areas should be done by primer coat first.  Then couple of matt emulsion will do the smooth finishing

Sand it down if there is large paint marks or brush or roller marks. Then use latex paint 2x coats

New plaster will always soak up paint and look patchy if a primer or white wash hasnt been used. dulux emulsion is also water based so will do the same thing, I would apply a white wash, (mix some of the contract matt with water) and give it a good coat and let it soak it up, then go over with another coat once its dry which should cover all the patches.
