Meditation garden

Hi there, I've heard of the term 'meditation garden'. What exactly does a meditation garden involve? What are its primary elements?

"At its core, a meditation garden is any natural space that allows you to disconnect. But certain elements—a winding path, for example, or the gentle trickle of water—naturally invite us to slow down. "A meditation garden invites you to be still, reflect and dream, and be quiet,"

"Meditation is generally seen as a way of finding inner pace and wellbeing. As a concept, it's very subjective and people will have varying ideas about what garden environment would be conducive to such.

It's generally considered, however that states of natural, visual and sonic tranquillity aide our senses and physiology in a beneficial way.

As well as exotic shrubs and tress, manicured and trained, running water, rocks and stone often form the basic building blocks of a calm and tranquil, natural space.

Depending on the surrounding environment different efforts can be made.

For instance, in a rural setting with the natural sound of bird song and the wind in the trees, less attention needs to be signed to sound.

In an urban setting, however with less bird song and natural sound, eastern chimes, bamboo and running water can create a backdrop of tranquillity.

Exotic eastern plants such as Acer and Asiatic Jasmin can enhance small spaces and create a sensual and calming ambiance.

With larger spaces, Japanese Cherry trees and weeping willows maybe employed.

Hope this helps."

"Hi June from experience I've installed water features with bamboo seating and sandstone pattern slabs with perhaps dull lighting in walkways and stones in beds. Just a nice easy place to sit and chill and indeed meditate.

Hope this helps"
