How to keep plants watered when on holiday?

What's the best way to keep my plants watered while I'm on holiday over the summer? I've seen slow feeders and irrigation systems but I don't know what works and what doesn't.

"I would suggest installing an irrigation system if you are away regularly especially if you have alot of plants in containers. I generally use a Claber brand timer for the outside tap and install Antelco piping and fittings for the system itself."

"hi, the question is how long are you going away for as sometimes its easier and less costly if you look at it that way i think the slow feeders are great but if you are going away for a few weeks having a sprinkler system throughout your flower beds is the best way forward you can get theses to come on and turn of at intervals of your chose. I hope this helps"
