Keeping kitchen reno costs down

I need to keep my kitchen reno costs down but I don't want to skimp on appliances. So is it better to save money on the cabinets or the worktop do you think?

"personally a cheaper cabinet and a better door will help save cost. worktop i would keep to mid range price as wear and tear is poor in cheaper tops"

"The worktops can be purchased from a number of locations and as a result have a wide range of costs. The Cabinets need to stand the weight and abuse they get, so these need to be of a good quality. perhaps do not get Pelmets and end panels to help reduce costs. Also consider helping to do some of the work yourself if possible. Go direct to a fitter like myself and not via the larger stores as they will take a percentage of the cost and increase the price"

"Best way to save money on kitchen refurbishment is
1. You can keep the basic wall and base units and just renewing the doors and draw fronts and new worktop and appliances this will reduce the cost if units are in good condition if not
2. You can get really nice looking kitchens and appliances from howdens kitchens if you have a kitchen fitter with a good account. Is I get 45% discount on kitchen from howdens as I’ve had account with them for some years. Or you could always look on eBay for ex display kitchens you’ll be very surprised how cheap but also very good but you must check it all out first"
