How much do butcher block worktops cost?

We fancy solid wood worktops in the new kitchen. What do they cost per metre fitted, and are they hard work to keep nice?

Solid wood worktops look brilliant, but they do require specialist fitting and ongoing care. Installation involves precise joinery—cutting exact joints, sink and hob openings, and leaving crucial expansion gaps so the timber doesn't warp or split. Before they're fitted, all sides and cut edges must be sealed with 3 to 5 coats of worktop oil to lock out moisture. Day-to-day, they just need re-oiling every 3 to 6 months and quick wipe-downs to prevent standing water around the sink. The big bonus is that any future scratches or stains can easily be sanded out and re-oiled to look brand new again.

hello. the solid wood ones can vary in price - they are very heavy and probably require 2 fitters - personally I would get laminate wood block effect - solid wood requires alot if maintenance

This all depends on how many cuts,  joins, cut outs etc theres not really a base price per m. Hope this helps
