Is it OK to paint over a marble fireplace?

I’m thinking of changing the look of my marble fireplace. Can it be painted safely without damaging the surface so I can remove it in the future if I change my mind?

"You can paint it if you properly prepare the surface first using a product like Zinsser bin however you would struggle to get it back to the original marble in the future."

"Its not the best idea. Any paint can.be removed but at what labour? But yes, you can paint over it with the right primers. I strongly suggest you don't."
