How to stop neighbours plants growing through fence

Is there a barrier or fix you can add to a fence to block plant growth? Replacing the whole fence feels extreme, so I’m wondering if there’s something simple that can be added to stop roots and shoots forcing their way through

"Gravel board buried along fence base about 6 inches below soil level"

"As per someone else’s reply - gravel boards will slow light roots but anything aggressive (ivy / bramble / bamboo / strong shrubs) will go straight under or around it. Best bet is root barrier about 100cm below soil level, installed vertically and tightly backfilled. Lasts least 20+ years and mainly used professionally for bamboo control"

"Yes — you don’t need to replace the whole fence. A simple and effective solution is to install a physical root and shoot barrier along your side of the boundary. You can fix heavy-duty weed membrane, plastic root barrier, or thin gravel boards vertically along the base of the fence and bury it 150–300mm into the ground. This helps stop both roots spreading underneath and shoots pushing through gaps.
For growth coming through the fence panels themselves, attaching closeboard slats, trellis backing, or a solid backing board to your side can block light and prevent plants forcing through. Regular trimming of anything that appears will also stop it re-establishing.
If the plants are particularly invasive (like bamboo or brambles), a proper HDPE root barrier installed in a shallow trench is the most reliable long-term fix."

"You can cut back existing plants of your boundaries, install platic sheet to prevent growing, you can use root killer as well to stop growing."

"Just trim by your side, so house be ok, to control the trees"
