Remove Bramley Apple Tree & Roots
I explained what I wanted in MyJobQuote being "removal of infected apple tree, stump removal and surrounding root removal." He quoted 3 options with the last being for tree and stump grind which I agreed to. I told him twice before job started, HAD to leave at 9.55 but instead of 9.30 arrival as agreed, didn't arrive till 9.55 so no chance of discussion on either side. We returned to find tree had been removed and I said about roots, bulbs soil removal before having to leave again. Returned when he was finishing job raking over bed. Assumed stump, roots etc had been removed and we again had another appointment to go to at Hospital for my husband. On returning I discovered the central part where stump had been removed was all loose soil but the rest of the bed (about 12 feet in diameter) was untouched with roots , bulbs etc still in situ On to my computer, I found the invoice for work posted at 1.10pm , meant they'd been on site for approximately 2 hours at the most as he'd had to go to get diesel for the grinder in this time! There was then a series of written emails I sent to 2 email addresses he gave me as we "discussed" backwards and forwards as to whether I was going to pay him the full amount which I disputed as the job description hadn't been completed For some reason my emails didn't get through to him so I ended up reading my emails to him on VoicemailI where I agreed to pay approximately 2/3 of the money which again created problems with the bank details he gave me as it wasn't into a Business account but a Personal account Then on examining the logo on their invoice to me it stated it was an address in East Staffordshire!!! but had a postal code of GU9 5RA (Guildford area) By this time I was becoming more and more suspicious of it being a genuine company even although the site on MyJobQuote said they were a "family business" of, I think 20 odd years He (sometimes Joe, sometimes George and then George Jones) always had an answer and finally agreed to turn up to complete the job I requested of root removal and digging over the bed to remove the bulbs, so paid him the amount. I would NOT recommend this company but if you do go with them, make sure you're completely satisfied, before paying anything Trade Descriptions may be interested in them after this.
