How to protect fence

I have a new build house with a little slope, I want to put the garden on 2 levels, bottom will be paved and the top I want to build a retaining sleeper wall with artificial grass on top. The right side of the garden will be fine to put soil up against as it has a brick wall to retain the bottom of the houses next to us but the other side the left hand side has a fence running along the slope. So If I build a retaining wall, all the soil will be up against it. How can I make sure I don't damage the fence?

Thanks

"You will definitely need to put some sort of retaining wall against the fence.
You could either use bricks and blocks as a double wall, which is by far the strongest. Or putting up a gravel board fence would be another option."

"Return your retaining wall around along the fence , this will retain the soil from going near the fence"

"You’ll need to build a retaining wall along the edge you’re wishing to raise also. A fence wouldn’t be sufficient to hold the weight of soil and would rot pretty quickly from excessive moisture."

"Use some kind of DPM/ any kind of polythene sheet material that doesn't allow water to pass through to the fence and you will be fine. In addition to this you can paint the fence area in question with creocote, blackjack or any another bitumen based paint."

"Hello bud why don’t you lay wooden sleepers 400 ml away and stepping them with the contour of the garden and put damp membrane up against the spleepers to stop damp and rot ok hope that helps"

"You could line the contact area with a rubber or pvc liner but if your using sleepers a box bed would be more ideal and still look good I would also recommend lining a box bed with the same material to help it last longer and to prevent discolouration to the sleepers overtime with the soil and moisture from the inside if the bed.hope this helps."

"Good afternoon. I suggest you extend the retaining wall along the fenced area. Sleepers as a retainer would be sufficient for a certain period but for a more permanent and long term solution I would recommend brick"

"You can raise some blocks along the side so that the soil can rest against it."

"Extending the retaining wall is the correct solution. I would not use Wood/sleepers or DPM personally."

"Build a false wall out of composite decking to hold the soil off your fence ,that way it is impervious to moisture"
