How to board a loft with thick insulation?

Hey guys. Tell me about loft boards. Best types? Do I need legs/stilts for the boards? We are looking at laying boards down in attic for storage space. The insulation is really thick though and comes up higher than the joists so I don’t know how to proceed. What would be the best way to install loft boards over insulation, so they don’t push the insulation down?

"You need legs and stilts to lay the board down even."

"Loft legs that fix onto the joists allow for your insulation in the loft, which should be nice n thick to keep the heat in. Then boards can be laid and fit on top of the legs. They do need to be fixed though as the boards will slide about if not."

"You could lay over the insulation. Best to use tongue and groove boards just like laying a large scaled laminate flooring."

"Never push the insulation down or it won't work properly. Use board legs or if you can, 6×2 and add it on edge to give you your height."
