How tall can a fence be?

How tall may a fence be if I have one constructed or build one myself on my property?

"The fence can be up to 7 feet after that you need planning permission."

"2 meters, or 1 meter adjacent to a highway, but there are exceptions."

"The law stipulates that a fence cannot exceed 2 metres in height. If you need it taller then you will need planning permission."

"A fence can be 9ft max I’d say but make sure the taller you go the more secure so ideally concrete posts and gravel boards."

"You have to keep your fence below 2meters in hight or you'll need to apply for planning permission from you local council"

"A fence can be a maximum of 8 ft in a residential area.
This can be a full height fence or lower fence with trellis.
A hedge though has no set height unless a neighbour complains about lack of light."
