How much does cladding a commercial building cost

We own a small industrial unit and the cladding is looking tired. Roughly what does recladding cost per square metre these days?

"Hi, there a a huge range of products available in today’s market, quality is very important for long life and zero maintenance."

"For a small industrial unit, a rough budget for full recladding is usually around £70–£140 per m² plus VAT, depending on the cladding system, access, insulation requirements and how much preparation or repair is needed underneath.

Simple overcladding can be cheaper, while removing and replacing old sheets, upgrading insulation, replacing flashings/gutters, or dealing with asbestos can raise the cost significantly. Scaffolding or a MEWP, building height and site access also affect the price.

The best approach is to get a site survey and a few like-for-like quotes, ensuring they specify whether removal, waste disposal, insulation, trims and access equipment are included."

"Hi Adam,
For an industrial unit, re-cladding typically costs £80–£150 per m² supplied and fitted (profiled steel or composite panel), depending on spec, access and fire rating requirements.

Before committing to a full re-clad, it's worth checking whether the cladding is structurally sound but just tired-looking (fading, chalking) - if so, spraying/recoating runs £15–£35 per m² and can add 10-15 years, at a fraction of the cost."

"Depending on what materials you want to use, Hardi plank is a concrete based cladding that comes in various colours, lasts longer and less maintenance so good all round, this is around £14-24 per length, normal come in 3.6m lengths. Hope this helps."

"As a rough guide I’d allow around £70–£140 per m² for industrial recladding, but it can vary quite a bit depending on the type of cladding, insulation, access and whether the existing sheets need removing. If the cladding is structurally sound and just looks tired, it may also be worth looking at cleaning/respraying rather than replacing it, as that can work out considerably cheaper."
