How many fire alarms do I need?

I've had a few trades say a few different things here. What are the rules in England for a property we're renovating to rent out

"Hi Greg, smoke alarm on every floor of the property as well as a CO alarm where the boiler is or if you have a wood burner.
Would recommend also having a heat detector in the kitchen.
You can put as many smoke alarms as you like, for example in bedrooms but the minimum requirement is one on every floor."

"It depends on your layout, need a smoke alarm in community areas and a heat and carbon in the kitchen if your boiler is in there"

"Do it with AutoCAD or at best with Revit. Otherwise check BS7671 18th Ed Brown Book"

"this depends on the size and type of property also the size of rooms"

"I would recommend a minimum of three. One heat detector in kitchen -one carbon monoxide detector near boiler -optical smoke detectors in hall, landing and loft/cellar - these can be interlinked by cable so when one goes off they all go off giving more time for family to escape. Where cable links aren’t possible RF or radio linked units can be used. Most units have a battery backup and a ten year work life. A sticker on the unit says when it should be replaced - I use trusted branded units"

"rented property or holiday lets will require a LD1 system"

"They must met BS 5839-6 of type D2 and LD3. One for the kitchen (heat and smoke detector) and one for each floor (smoke) that must be interconnected and ideally take power from a dedicated circuit to meet building regs standards."

". The Legal Minimum (Single Family Home)
If you are renting to a single family or two unrelated people, the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022 apply:

Smoke Alarms: At least one working smoke alarm on every storey used as living accommodation.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms: A CO alarm is mandatory in any room with a "fixed combustion appliance" (e.g., gas boilers, wood burners, coal fires). Note: Gas cookers are legally excluded, but an alarm is still highly recommended.

Power Source: For a standard rental, these can be battery-powered, but if you are doing a "material renovation" (like a loft conversion or major extension), Building Regulations usually require mains-wired, interlinked alarms."

"Hi greg
Re fire alarm/smoke alarm question.
Its required bylaw for a smoke alarm on every level of the property....i would personally put a heat alarm in the kitchen also.
And carbon monoxide alarm where there is a fuel burning appliance..i.e the boiler and also if a gas fire in place."
