How do matte and eggshell compare and contrast with each other?

Hi, so I want to have a living room painted. I’m just wondering how matte and eggshell compare and contrast with each other? I’m trying to figure out which might be best for my living room. Any suggestions for making the right call?

"Eggshell has a sheen which although washable can show wall or ceiling imperfections, Matt is decoratively more attractive, but is less hard wearing, but there are scrubbable Matts available at extra cost"

"Yes, using the same colour on the wall in matt and satin or eggshell on woodwork can look good. The contrast can be very good indeed. If you want to use different colours, the effect is still good. Still, it all depends on the colour choice of room design and whether modern or old using the same colour on an old property, say Victorian with original cornice and skirting board that's high with moulding, can look fantastic, especially if you have bare floorboards."

"There are 2 things The condition of the walls If yours are smooth and no damage You could get away with eggshell or a sheen finish On the other hand If the walls are not smooth Matt would be your best choice"

"Eggshell paint it is washable but if the walls are not perfect it may show all the imperfections and may not look right. If you looking for matt finish , you should get easycare paint matt finish"

"When comparing eggshell vs matte paint, eggshell is slightly more reflective and a bit more durable. In contrast, matte paint tends to hide imperfections"

"You would usually use egg shell on the wood work .if your using emulsion on the walls it's best to use a washable one so you can try and keep clean rather than having to paint it again .and I always use satinwood or gloss on woodwork so again can be wiped .eggshell is more of a dull affect paint"

"Hey
My personal opinion is go for Diamond matt for durability and for a flat finish, or Diamond eggshell for a similar durability but in a soft sheen finish, it depends on your taste.
Simple answer there both wipeable and durable but with different finished.

Thanks"

"Personally I would go for a silk covering on walls as washable and almost splash resistant so easy to clean any marks or scuffs eggshell for me doesn't cover as well as satin but that's just my preference hope this is helpful"
