Harmful wood VOCs

How dangerous are VOCs in wood? What can you do to reduce their possible harm? What should I do do you think?

"VOC’s simplified are the fumes that are given off paints, stains etc.....you can see the VOC warning on the tins. Try to get low VOC content where poss. if you personally take PPE precautions and use it in a ventilated place then the effect to you is minimal it damages the environment more.....try get low VOC"
