Dual fuel cooker installation cost

Do you need both an electrician and a gas engineer for a dual-fuel cooker? Might take the stars aligning for me to get them in the same room at the same time if so?

"Yes, for a dual-fuel cooker (gas hob + electric oven) you usually need both a Gas Safe registered gas engineer and an electrician, but they don’t have to be there at the same time. The electrician installs or checks the proper cooker circuit, and the gas engineer connects and tests the gas supply. If your existing gas point and cooker circuit are already suitable, they can come separately without needing to coordinate schedules."

"You may find someone who is qualified in both arenas. Otherwise you may have to employ both. Depends whether there is already a gas feed there which is usually a simple push/twist connection."

"Yes. For a dual-fuel cooker you normally need both a Gas Safe registered engineer to connect and test the gas supply, and a qualified electrician to install or connect the electrical supply, which is often a 32A cooker circuit.

They don’t need to be there at the same time. The electrical side can be installed first and the gas engineer can connect and commission the appliance separately. You can sometimes find an engineer who is dual-qualified and able to carry out both parts, which saves coordinating two trades."

"Yes, for a dual fuel cooker you will normally need both a qualified electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer. The electrician will connect the electrical supply (usually a cooker circuit or suitable outlet), and the gas engineer will connect the cooker to the gas supply and carry out the required safety checks and certification.
It’s a good idea to arrange for them to attend at the same time to make the installation quicker and avoid delays. In some cases, certain companies or tradespeople are qualified to carry out both works, which can help reduce costs and make coordination easier."

"Hi Carole.
If it is a combination gas/electric cooker then yes you would need a gas registered engineer and possibly an electrician. Usually these types of cookers require only a three amp supply in order for the gas ignition to operate. This therefore only requires a plug top and a thirteen a socket. But depending what you currently have with regards to power point and gas point, will depend on the cost."
