Disadvantages of rubber roofing
I'm weighing up different types or roofing to install on my home. I'm just wondering what are the downsides of rubber roofing?

"Depends on the rubber you buy , the cheaper thinner rubber tends to show any imperfections under it when installed. Also strong smell of rubber on a hot day. Fibreglass I would suggest is preferable ( Restec 2020."

"The only disadvantage to rubber is it only come in to sizes 6m and 3 by any length wider pieces of rubber should be made available"

"Honestly can't see a downside to EPDM rubber roofing .Like all roofing materials it's only as good as the people fitting it . I personally would never go fibreglass on a warm roof system only rubber on cold roof either is good but the price to life says always rubber"

"Sweating is a problem maybe best have fibre glass but if rubber has air flow from facia it’s fine"

"It's colour. Normally a rubber roof is black. However, you can paint it using acrylic paint, although that does eventually shed."

"Been installing epdm rubber since 2006 and honestly there is no disadvantages as long as the installer is certified to apply firestone or Carlisle epdm and knows the fitting procedure stay away from the cheap product personally I would recommend a fleece backed epdm"
