"Medium density fiberboard and high density fiberboard. Medium density fiberboard is more commonly used, uses include architraves, skirting boards, custom cabinets etc. High-density fiberboard as the name suggests has a higher density therefore is used for laminate flooring and door skins etc where a harder surface is required. You'll also find it on your furniture, it's the thin hard fiberboard panel at the back.
Hope this helps"

"The density of the composite plate. They both are used as timber replacements as they usually have thermo vinyl finish"

"hi, to maybe answer your question,
HDF has a larger density than MDF and therefore is better around water, MDF is also a cheaper option of board."

"A google search reveals the following:

"HDF is denser and heavier than MDF due to its smaller and more tightly packed wood fibres. HDF typically has a density of around 50-65 pounds per cubic foot, while MDF has a density of around 30-50 pounds per cubic foot. HDF is stronger and more durable than MDF due to its higher density and smaller wood fibres."

so basically, depending on application, I'd say HDF is stronger!"

"Mdf is medium density fibre board used for areas that don’t except much wear ie durability
Hdf is high density fibre board which is used for laminate boards that will be on hallways or domestic spaces due to its durability also most hdf is moisture resistant or have a better resilience hope this helps"

"it may be different comparing to the elements, That your going to expose your MDF or HDF wood sheets to one the MDF might be able to hide behind a HDF sheet but the elements may creep behind to the fibres of the medium density fibres will not be able to handle that like the high density fibres could be exposed to the elements."
