Cross hipped roof

Can you tell me what a cross hipped roof is and what types of homes usually use them?

"A cross hipped roof is when you have a square built property the same height all around and then the roof rafters are built and each gable side roof falls into the main roof and that forms your hipped roof.

Not sure if that explanation is good enough"
