Hi there As part of landscaping project, we had new raised plant beds built using grey blocks which were rendered using sand and cement with appropriate additives. We painted it once rendering completed. The edges of these beds where beads were put are now showing sign of rustings that are gradually appearing and growing through the whole length of the beads. The landscaper says it may be paint reacting and we can use stain blocker paint to prevent. Can you advise probable cause and potential remediations for the same please?
Having removed wallpaper I found a patch of plaster approx 50cm x 50cm which I assume was a previous repair was lifting away from the wall. It’s hollow behind and a hole in the plaster allows me to see the masonry behind. If I was to remove the plaster seeing as its coming of the wall anyway, can I use a masonry / cement filler to fill and level it off prior to getting a professional to skim the wall? Would I need to waterproof with blackjack or something similar? Thanks J
There are two long, bulging lines on my ceiling and it's starting to crack the paper. Does this mean the plaster has blown underneath?
Which gives the best insulation result? I’m trying to insulate a staircase wall, so there is no room for thick thermal boards
We have had our living room skimmed and we are getting a log burner installed. We have had the face of the wall with the recess skimmed and we were going to restore the pre-existing bricks, however the angle bead has been placed into the recess and is visible against the brick. Is there a way around this - we have been advised a return will be placed to box the metal in, but we’re worried as to how obvious this will be. Thanks!
What's best to do with a bumpy and slightly cracked ceiling? Should we bring the whole lot down and start again, board over or is it possible to skim it?
