Can I DIY render?

Is external rendering of a house at all a suitable as a DIY job or should it almost always be done by a professional? Is it even legally permissible for a non-professional to take on this work?

"Hi Duncan,

As with anything do it yourself you will always run the risk of there being issues, maybe not using the correct/best product or certain steps being missed resulting in water getting into house or render cracking etc. We ourselves are registered with rendering companies such as k rend which means if you have work done professionally you will be covered under the twenty five year guarantee , if you did it yourself you wouldn’t get that cover so could cost you more money if any issues arose:
Hope this helps"

"It would be very difficult doing to your self as already said, sand and cement no chance but you could look at K render which is more work able but again still difficult, but you could maybe try on a small garden wall practice will help maybe 👍"

"Its something that I would not take on if you have never done it before as its all about timing but if you feel confident then give it a go ....dan"

"Not worth attempting a whole house. Get it wrong and your going to knock value of your house if it’s got bumpy, cracked render covering it. Get it done right and it won’t need doing again in your lifetime."

"A professional should do this work as if its just a DIY person they might not make it look the same"
