Can you sharpen a wood saw?

Is it possible to sharpen a wood handsaw? Or do I need to buy a new one when it starts to blunt?

"If you have time, you can try to sharpen, but first of all, there will be no factory focussing. Secondly, no one practises it, and you just buy a new manual saw"

"Wood saws can be sharpened if the teeth are not hardened
And there are still places around that do sharpen traditional quality handsaw
Check the Internet for a local place near you ( it won't be cheap ) but if its a good quality hand saw nothing you buy today will compete with the quality and feel of the old handsaw"

"If it’s a decent saw it could be sharpened… if it’s a cheap one I would buy a new one"

"You absolutely can it’s what happened back in the day !!!
But the price of a good saw now there is just no need to send your saw away to get sharpened"

"It is possible to re sharpen a wood saw with a small triangular file but this is normally reserved for saws that are meant to be kept for years. The key points are hardwood handle, high quality steel blade etc. a cheaper plastic handled saw whilst it can be sharpened are priced at a low enough point to make them disposable, the metal also is not really suited to hand sharpening although it can at a pinch be done."

"Most saws can be sharpened but it is a lot easier to just buy a new one as if the teeth are not hardened or if the teeth are bent it will make this very difficult"

"Yew you can but you need the right tools, files etc and a certain amount to Knowle to do it correctly. Modern saws generally are sold as disposable so it would be cheap enough just to replace"
