Can you paint radiator pipes?

The copper pipes coming off our radiators are quite visible and look a bit scruffy. Can you paint over copper pipes without it peeling, and what paint do you use?

"If you clean them with degreaser and sandwith them to ensure the paint adheres well. Use a specialized metal primer followed by heat-resistant paint, such as enamel, to prevent flaking and ensure durability."

"Yes!

Quick & useful process (simple version)

1. Turn heating OFF
Pipes must be completely cold
Painting hot pipes = paint failure + smell

2. Clean & degrease
Wipe with sugar soap or degreaser
Remove dust, grease, old residue

3. Sand lightly
Use fine sandpaper (120–180 grit)
Just key the surface (don’t overdo it)

4. Prime (important)
Use metal primer (or direct-to-metal paint if specified)
Especially needed if:
pipes are bare metal
or have rust spots

5. Paint (2 thin coats)
Use radiator paint / metal paint (heat resistant)

Finish options:
Satin (most common)
Gloss (durable, but shows imperfections)"

"Hi, yes you can with specialist paint like radiator paint or high heat Enamel. You have to clean them and use a primer first. I would choose pipe covers, they look alot nicer 👌🏼just search radiator pipe coves"

"Hi Lauren the answer your looking for it yes, yes you can as long as you follow the right steps.

Make sure the systems off first thing.
Must make sure you give them a wipe over first ideally degreaser, if you dont have some soapy water is fine but dry it all off afterwards.
Sanding is crucial id probably use one eighty grit.
Next is primer you want to use one suitable for metal and one thats going to deal with heat. Apply and let it dry once dry sand it back slightly twoforty then coat in a heat resistant paint of your choice.

Hope it helps you out."

"Yes you can repaint radiator pipes light sanding to provide a key followed by 2 coats of radiator paint which is heat resistant and slows yellowing of the paint alternatively plastic cover strips which would need cutting to length are available and basically wrap around pipes so no painting needed"
