Can you paint over PVA?

Does PVA need sanding off the walls before I can paint them?

"Depends on the paint you're planning on using. A zinseer primer sealer usually does the job"

"Not necessarily, but the overall finish on the paint would look much better if you sand down and sugar soap clean before painting."

"You need to prime it or sand it first otherwise the paint will not adhere properly and will most likely split leaving you an even bigger job."

"Yes, it is generally possible to paint over PVA (polyvinyl acetate) adhesive or glue. PVA is a common type of adhesive used in various applications, such as woodworking, paper crafts, and general bonding. While PVA dries to a clear or translucent finish, it is receptive to paint."

"Depends on what type of paint you plan on painting over it with . . .water based paints is a no no, as the PVA acts as a waterproof barrier. Acrylic paints are a possibility.
If the PVA has been mixed in the right proportions with water it can be considered a poor man's primer prior to painting walls or canvases.
Hope this helps."

"We recommend that you use what's known as a quality 'flexible' powdered, cement based adhesive such as fast setting Keraflex Maxi Grey. With large format tiles, it is important that there's a full bed of adhesive between the floor or wall and the tiles to ensure full contact. We recommend that you use what's known as a quality 'flexible' powdered, cement based adhesive such as fast setting Keraflex Maxi Grey.
